Dr. Robert J. Morin, a New York board certified plastic surgeon, performs a full range of complex plastic surgery procedures. A specialist in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the head and face, Dr. Morin frequently performs reconstructive procedures related to the removal of melanoma. Due to his expertise in Mohs surgery reconstruction, skin cancer patients from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut seek Dr. Morin’s care in order to obtain the best result possible.
After the removal of cancerous tissue, many different reconstructive options exist. If the excision involved significant tissue removal, complex tissue rearrangements may be necessary to address a post-procedure defect. Dr. Morin uses the most advanced techniques to repair the cancer defects so that patients can heal as quickly and beautifully as possible. To best manage his patient’s care, Dr. Morin coordinates treatment plans closely with the patient’s dermatologist, surgical oncologist and medical oncologist.
A graduate of New York Medical College, Dr. Morin completed a combined general surgery and plastic surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. During his residency, he served as Plastic Surgery Chief Resident. As part of his post-graduate training, Dr. Morin became a Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery Fellow at Miami Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida. During that time, he had the privilege of training with one of the world’s foremost craniofacial surgeons, Dr. S. Anthony Wolfe. Dr. Morin frequently contributes to peer-reviewed professional journals and has presented his work in both the United States and abroad.
Dr. Morin is a committed humanitarian and brings his extensive training in craniofacial surgery, facial cosmetic surgery and pediatric plastic surgery to the field. He has traveled extensively to developing countries in order to provide complex surgical care to those in need. In the past several years, he has treated young patients across continents, including South America and Africa. Following the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Dr. Morin was one of the first plastic surgeons on the ground to offer his surgical services. He has received awards and recognition for his volunteer surgical services and was profiled on “ER: Haiti.”, the ABC Nightline special about the United States surgical effort in Haiti.
Dr. Morin’s goal is always to produce the best cosmetic result possible so that his patients can regain confidence after cancer surgery or trauma. He practices in both New York City and Hackensack, New Jersey.
